Ya,'ll, learn to expect the unexpected. It's at long last cold here! Woohoo! Keep in mind a month ago when I was whining about the 80-degree temps? Never again! Recently it was a high of 40 degrees. Yessssss! What's more, obviously, I broke out my tall boots, scarf, and gloves to greet in the frosty temps. I love it!

Since it's chilly, I've been longing for some hot cocoa. There are such huge numbers of yummy varieties of hot cocoa: peppermint, salted caramel, white hot cocoa… and so on! In any case, I need something that truly addressed me.

A while ago when I made these Reese's Peanut Butter Cookies, I discussed my fixation on nutty spread and chocolate. It's a combo that can't be beat. So my choice was simple: I HAD to make a nutty spread hot cocoa.

I can't pressure the amount I love this nutty spread hot cocoa. It has the ideal complement of nutty spread without loosing the chocolate season. I added marshmallows to mine, which gave the hot cocoa some additional sweetness. What's more, when the marshmallows get warm, they mellowed and liquefy in your mouth. So wanton!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 32 ounces milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup mini-marshmallows (for topping)
  • Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate - A yummy, comforting hot chocolate, with a special new addition: creamy peanut butter! Ready in less than 10 minutes.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Turn on stove to medium heat. Add chocolate chips and peanut butter. Stir together with whisk until melted and smooth. Be careful not to let it get too hot or it will harden.
  2. Very slowly, whisk in milk. The slower you do it, the easier it will be to incorporate into the chocolate-peanut butter mixture. Keep whisking until all the chocolate is mixed into the milk. This may take 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add in cocoa powder and whisk until mixed into milk mixture.
  4. Keep cooking until the mixture begins to froth on top. Check temperature. If full warmed-through, turn off heat and serve. Top with marshmallows and chocolate sauce and/or melted peanut butter. You can also add chopped peanut butter cups.
